    Chelsea Community Education provides all youth and adult recreation activities to the residents of the Chelsea School District, including the City of Chelsea, as well as outlying areas outside District boundaries. Our major team sport seasons include baseball/softball/tee ball, flag football, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Additional camps and clinics are offered throughout the year. We also offer adult men's basketball, co-ed indoor volleyball co-ed pickleball, and co-ed softball. If you would like to discuss other sports opportunities, we would love to hear from you!
  • Afterschool Care

    Welcome to the Chelsea School District Afterschool Care Program. We provide safe and affordable care for Chelsea School District young fives/kindergarten through fifth grade students after school and during non-school days. We believe that children need to enjoy their experience here in a safe and enriching learning environment. Families can expect that the 2024-25 rates will be as follows: Initial payment: $50 registration per child + $50 down payment = $100 After-school care: $17.48 per day Half-day of school: $39.32 per day Non-school day: $65.54 per day

  • Camp Gabika

    Chelsea Community Education’s Summer Camp, Camp GABIKA: Grand Activities with Bold Imagination and Kinship in Adventure, creates a fun, safe space for kids to express themselves, explore new ideas and challenges, build lasting friendships and social skills while keeping their bodies and minds healthy and active. Our outstanding staff lead campers through our summer of fun, engaging camp activities, and games. Campers participate in weekly activities including sports, games, arts, crafts, local walking trips, cooking and gardening with Chelsea Seniors, visits from the CDL Moblie Library, and off-site and front yard field trips! We have partnered with the Chelsea Wellness Coalition and 5 Healthy Towns Foundation for many years to encourage campers to move more, eat better, avoid unhealthy substances and connect with others. Each day campers will need to bring a packed lunch, water bottle, comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, sunscreen, and an open mind, imagination, and a respectful and positive attitude! This summer there are many exciting field trips already in the works including: Launch Trampoline Park, bowling at Chelsea Lanes, PAX Gymnastics, Air Zoo Museum, Chelsea fire station visit, splash pad, roller skating, and mini-golf (calendar of events will be posted prior to the start of camp). Campers will also be able to participate in water activities during the summer to cool off at camp such as Water World: sprinklers, and water games, and field trips to a sprinkler park. Registration will open on April 8, 2024 Daily rate is $64.26 per day, with a full week rate of $276 Before care (7:30-8:30am) and after care (4:30-5:30pm) are available for $5.50 each per day. Before and after care are not required Campers must register for at least two days each week and must register for at least two weeks during the summer A $50 registration fee will be charged when your contract is accepted All schedule changes require at least 30 days’ notice and schedule change fees will apply after May 15 After May 15, registration is available depending on staffing and available space by contacting the Community Education office

  • Chelsea Community Preschool

    Chelsea Community Preschool uses the High Scope curriculum and we help children develop the skills necessary to succeed as they head into their K-12 careers. We are the first stepping stone in Chelsea School District's Portrait of a Graduate focusing on Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. We offer partial day and full day programs for three and four year olds that meet from two to five days per week. Please feel free to explore our offerings or reach out to the Community Education office with additional questions about our options. 2024-25 TUITION AMOUNTS Partial-day classes 2 days per week, $199 monthly 3 days per week, $305 monthly 4 days per week, $397 monthly Full-day classes 2 days per week, $611 monthly 3 days per week, $916 monthly 5 days per week, $1,331 monthly There is a $50 registration fee at the time of registration. In addition, a $50 down payment will be assessed at the approval of the contract. This down payment will be applied to your first invoice. Any additional fees are included in the amounts listed above.

    Chelsea School District Community Education and Recreation is dedicated to educating and enriching the community. We strive to offer a robust and wide-ranging enrichment program for our community and the surrounding area.
  • First Steps (Chelsea Community Preschool)

    First Steps Washtenaw is an early childhood parent education and family support program serving families throughout pregnancy until their child enters kindergarten, usually age 5. The program is designed to enhance child development and school achievement through parent education accessible to all families. Recognizing that all families can benefit from support, First Steps families come in all configurations, from all socio-economic levels, and from rural, urban and suburban communities. The program is adaptable to fit community needs. It is a local program and family participation is voluntary. Washtenaw First Steps works with parents to provide them with parenting support and information on their developing child.

    Youth Enrichment

    Youth enrichment is one of the main components of Community Education. We offer after-school, evening and some weekend youth enrichment programs. These programs are open to all youth in the Chelsea School District, and also to youth who reside outside of the District boundaries.
