    Adult enrichment with Community Education means evening and weekend programs for adults of all ages and interests. These programs are open to residents of the Chelsea School District, and also to adults who reside outside of the District boundaries.

    Adult Sports

    Chelsea Community Education provides all youth and adult recreation activities to the residents of the Chelsea School District, including the City of Chelsea, as well as outlying areas outside District boundaries. Our major team sport seasons include baseball/softball/tee ball, flag football, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Additional camps and clinics are offered throughout the year. We also offer adult men's basketball, co-ed indoor volleyball co-ed pickleball, and co-ed softball. If you would like to discuss other sports opportunities, we would love to hear from you!
  • Afterschool Care

    Welcome to the Chelsea School District Afterschool Care Program. We provide safe and affordable care for Chelsea School District young fives/kindergarten through fifth grade students after school and during non-school days. We believe that children need to enjoy their experience here in a safe and enriching learning environment. Families can expect that the 2024-25 rates will be as follows: Initial payment: $50 registration per child + $50 down payment = $100 After-school care: $17.48 per day Half-day of school: $39.32 per day Non-school day: $65.54 per day

    Chelsea’s Community Education Summer Camp GABIKA 2024 GABIKA: Grand Activities with Bold Imagination and Kinship in Adventure. Our outstanding staff lead campers through our summer of fun engaging activities and games. Campers participate in weekly activities including sports, games, arts, crafts, local walking trips, outdoor and indoor activities, off site field trips and front yard field trips, visiting local parks and businesses, cooking and gardening with seniors, Chelsea District Library Book Mobile Visits, Martial Arts with Chelsea ATA, cooking with local guest chef’s. *Campers will be able to participate in water activities to cool off at camp such as Water World: sprinklers, and water games, and field trips to a sprinkler park. Dates: M-F June through August Eligible Ages: Must have completed Y5 or Kindergarten through 5th Grade.   • Challenger Sports Core Soccer Camp

    Registration will be completed through the Challenger Sports website here: https://challengersports.com/external-events/chelsea-community-education/ Challenger Sports Core Soccer Camp is back for 2024! Coached by our team of international and US-based staff, our week-long half day and full day soccer camps improve your child’s soccer skills while providing a unique cultural experience. Camps are designed for all ages and ability levels, from beginner to advanced players. We channel our energy and passion for the game into a fun yet developmental environment. We use age appropriate practices to help players develop at their own pace, learn brand new skills and become an all-round better player...while having an amazing time with our international coaching staff! Camp includes an educational approach that uses soccer to teach the core values of responsibility, integrity. respect, sportsmanship and leadership. Registration will be available for different sessions depending on age. To register, you must visit challengersports.com. There will be a $40 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration. No refunds will be given for cancellations less than ten days prior to the start of camp.

    Chelsea Area Players Summer Theatre Workshop

    PLEASE NOTE: At this time the Theatre Camp is at capacity with a lengthy wait list. We are not accepting any additional registrations. At the Chelsea Area Players Summer Theatre Workshop, you’ll spend two weeks rehearsing a show, playing theatre games, and growing as actors, writers, and designers. At the end, we give a Final Showcase performance for family and friends. These plays are created with maximum kid input, so get your part! This camp is for students completing grades 2-8. Please provide T-shirt size with registration. Deadline to register is June 5.

  • Dog Obedience Charm School

    Participants in this course must have completed the introductory Fundamentals 1 course first. You can register for that course HERE. Problem solving is an important part of training. In this class we will address a variety of common training challenges using reward-based training and behavior modification. In this four-week class you will take your training to the next level using the foundation skills you've learned in our Level 1 class. We will focus on overexcitement, impulsive behavior, jumping up on people, counter surfing and pulling on the leash. Class size is limited to 6 students to allow for individual attention. Charm School is open to K9 Home Schooling Students who have completed training with us, we do not allow transfer students from other programs into this class. Dogs with a history of aggression or reactive behavior towards humans or dogs are not appropriate for group class. Once registered for class, students will also complete the intake process through the K9HomeSchooling.com website. Participants must watch the required orientation video prior to the first class, which will be sent to your registration email. In addition to class materials, all K9 Home Schooling Students have access to Michelle’s on-line library of training videos (110+) to support your training outside of class for 90 days after the start of their class. Participants must have successfully completed K9 Home Schooling introductory course Participants must have a collar and 6-foot leash each class. You will be asked to verify your pet’s vaccinations during registration. Students must be 18 years of age to handle their dog in class and children under 12 years of age must remain at home.

  • Fiddle Camp

    PLEASE NOTE: Fiddle Camp will be held Tuesday, June 11 - Friday, June 14. These dates are different than those originally published. It’s summer time and this popular camp is back! Violin, viola, cello and bass students will develop their playing skills while learning fiddle tunes in a relaxed environment. This camp is an excellent preparation for playing in the Beach Middle School Fiddle Club or the Chelsea House Orchestra. This camp is for students completing fifth through eighth grade with a year’s playing experience. Please provide t-shirt size with your registration. Performance: South Meadows gym on Friday, June 14 @ 12:00 noon
  • First Steps (Chelsea Community Preschool)

    First Steps Washtenaw is an early childhood parent education and family support program serving families throughout pregnancy until their child enters kindergarten, usually age 5. The program is designed to enhance child development and school achievement through parent education accessible to all families. Recognizing that all families can benefit from support, First Steps families come in all configurations, from all socio-economic levels, and from rural, urban and suburban communities. The program is adaptable to fit community needs. It is a local program and family participation is voluntary. Washtenaw First Steps works with parents to provide them with parenting support and information on their developing child.
  • GRASP

    The Grand Rapids Academic Summer Program is a nine-week correspondence summer program in math and reading designed for children who have completed kindergarten through eighth grade. Children will receive a packet of materials containing all nine lessons for the summer. The lessons are scored, results recorded and returned to the children. A certificate of achievement is given at the conclusion of a successful program. In order to register for GRASP, please return your completed registration to the Community Education office by Friday, April 28. Any registrations after this date will have to register independently and pay a higher registration fee directly through the GRASP office. Materials will be distributed to schools no later than Friday, June 3 for students to take home. Each curriculum packet contains instructions for completion of lessons (about 1 hour each week) and how to return them for scoring.
  • Get Soccer Savvy with Coach Jeremy

    Join Coach Jeremy for four-week intensive soccer clinic. Key focuses will be meticulously breaking down dribbling, passing (foot and throw-ins), moving without the ball and shooting angles and technique. We will be having fun while learning a lot with controlled growth and technical development. Be sure to bring your gym shoes and a bottle of water!
  • Iddy Biddy Sports

    Coach Jeremy is continuing a full offering of Iddy Biddy sports with Community Education this season! Iddy Biddy is an instructional program for children ages 3-5, where participants get to learn the basics of a sport all while having fun in a non-competitive setting. Each four-week session will prepare children in a specific sport with drills and techniques. Parents will learn with their child so that they can work together outside of class as well. Iddy Biddy programs will help develop skills and confidence in a non-competitive, fun learning environment. A parent must attend each class with their child.

    Ladies Doubles Intermediate Tennis

    Come out and play a friendly round of tennis on Tuesday evenings! Sign-up will be done online each week in order to accommodate each player’s schedule. The focus is on doubles play, and there is no instruction provided. Players just bring their racquet and a can of tennis balls to the courts! The level of play will be determined by who signs up, but in the past this league has been in the USTA 2.5-3.5 range. Register your interest online with Community Education so we can share the sign-up link with you directly! The sign-up link is provided after May 1 for those who register.

    Mad Science

    Ready, STEM, Go! (K-5th Gr.) In this program, children learn foundational science and find out how STEM is at work in the world around them! They learn about the animal kingdom, both on land and under the sea. They make mixtures and explore the science of motion and energy. They also discover the technology that powers our modern world. This after-school program is available at North Creek for K-2 grades and South Meadows for grades 3-5. Participants must be picked up promptly at the end of class. NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers (ages 5-12) Mad Science has teamed up with NASA in a quest for exploration! We’ll take a voyage of discovery into the atmosphere and beyond as we explore planets, moons, and other space phenomena in our solar system. Things will heat up as we examine the sun and other stars and discover the difficulties of space travel! Kids will get a firsthand experience of the challenges of living in space as they try to assemble a satellite while training to be an astronaut. For added fun, we’ll learn about the various technologies that make space exploration possible while bouncing lasers around the room! Kids will love to build their own Mad Science Skyblazer Rocket and participate in a real “NASA” style rocket launch. Campers will receive many cool NASA take homes! Campers should bring their own water and a nut-free snack to class. Secret Agent Lab (ages 5-12) The following camp description is TOP SECRET: Ever dream of becoming a secret agent? We'll start with the basics: from decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers have the opportunity to check out spy tech equipment and take-home lots of gadgets! Step into the shoes of a detective as you uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis! Figure out the science of forensics in a hands-on look at crime scenes! Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks as we take a hands-on investigation of the science that spies use! Campers should bring their own water and a nut-free snack to class. Underground Explorers (ages 7-12) Calling all junior archaeologists and paleontologists! Uncover the mysteries of ancient civilizations, explore the history of dinosaurs, and div up the ancient past! Earn about archaeology and the techniques scientists use to excavate long-lost cities. Discover ancient civilizations and the tools and artifacts they used in everyday life. Kids will love to study bone fragments, pottery shards, amber deposits and fossils! Camp is filled with cool take-homes such as amber keychains, world coins, plaster hand casts and more! Campers should bring their own water and a nut-free snack to class. Brixology (ages 7-12) Brixology Camp sets the foundation for our next generation of makers! Children learn about different types of engineering and then team up to construct a different engineering-themed project using LEGO bricks. We’ll learn about aerospace engineering while assembling a space station. We’ll explore mechanical engineering as we build boats and vehicles. That’s not all! From carnival rides to drawing machines, mechanical animals to truss bridges, your future engineer will build upon their creativity to solve real-world design challenges, while developing their problem-solving and team-building skills. Let the tinkering begin! Campers receive custom Mad Science take homes. Campers should bring their own water and a nut-free snack to class.
